Welcome to "Sussex by the Sea"
 Arundel, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton &
the Sussex Downs

Boy playing with sand on beachSussex by the Sea offers a unique blend of traditional seaside fun, rural tranquillity and centuries of heritage. Whether you’re planning a holiday, short break, day trip or have relatives coming to stay, the towns and delightful villages of Sussex by the Sea have something to offer everyone.

Sussex by the Sea offers you 14 miles of beautiful contrasting coastline - from the vibrant resorts of Bognor Regis & Littlehampton - to the quiet, away- from-it-all beaches of Aldwick, Pagham, Felpham and the secluded sand dunes of Climping and Littlehampton’s West Beach.

View of South Stoke countrysideIn addition to the coastline, we are blessed with the scenic beauty of the South Downs - a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and part of the proposed National Park. Picturesque villages, guaranteed to delight and enchant you, are dotted inland and along the coast.

Nestled beneath the South Downs, Amberley is known as ‘the pearl of Sussex.’ Walk across the wildlife-rich Amberley Wildbrooks for fantastic views of Arundel - the Historic Heart of the South Downs.

For long hours of sunshine and award-winning beaches check out Bognor Regis and Littlehampton who have it all.

Barnham WindmillIf history and architecture interest you, be prepared to be spoilt for choice. In addition to its great rail links across the South and to London, Barnham is home to Barnham Windmill, a well known local landmark.

Tucked away in the tiny village of Burpham near Arundel is the Church of St Mary which dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. Best known for its unspoilt beach, Climping (also spelt Clymping) is home to another St Mary’s Church which merits five-stars in architectural ratings of village churches.

It was in Felpham that William Blake wrote the words for “Jerusalem” and the coastal village was included in the Domesday Survey. Another taste of history can be found in Ford – once the home of a Fleet Air Arm Airfield - and now home to one of the largest Sunday markets in the South East. Partially exposed medieval wall paintings can be seen at the local church of St Andrew by the Ford and it is here you will also find one of the largest shops devoted to model railways in the country!

Slindon Halloween Pumkin displayIf long country walks are on your agenda, make sure Findon is on your route for some of the best views of the South Downs and a chance to see racehorses training. The Gallops is home to the Josh Gifford stables, which have produced four Grand National winners. More fantastic countryside and National Trust woodland is waiting to be discovered around the tiny village of Slindon. Visit at Halloween to enjoy an amazing display of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes adorning one of the village’s cottages.
